The latest college baseball rankings are out for the week of April 14, and a new SEC team has claimed the top spot after a short-lived run by Arkansas.
On Monday, Baseball America dropped its updated top 25 poll with Texas overtaking the Razorbacks for the top spot. The Longhorns now hold both top spots in D1Baseball and Baseball America for the first time under new head coach Jim Schlossnagle.
The rest of Baseball America’s top 25 includes Tennessee at No. 2 and Georgia at No. 3 after big weekend wins for both squads. The Bulldogs took 2 out of 3 from the Razorbacks in Athens, including an extra-innings thriller in Sunday’s rubber match. Meanwhile, Tennessee took 2 of 3 from Ole Miss in Oxford for another top 10 series win for Tony Vitello’s group.
Arkansas slid from No. 1 to No. 4 while North Carolina moved up to round out the top 5. Auburn moved up to No. 7 after a weekend sweep of LSU, with the Tigers dropping to No. 8 after checking in at No. 3 last week.
Altogether, it shapes up to be an intriguing race to the College World Series in Omaha after the No. 1 spot has already changed hands multiple times this season. Stay locked into the latest College World Series odds all season long as Tennessee looks to defend its title.
