A College World Series attendance record was broken in 2024.

This year’s CWS action drew an average 24,788 fans per game to Charles Schwab Field, aka “The Chuck.”

Front Office Sports notes that 2024’s overall attendance of 371,820 is shy of the 392,946 fans who attended last year. The difference can be chalked up to the fact that both bracket winners, Texas A&M and Tennessee, each won their first 3 CWS games to reach the championship series. If Florida and/or Florida State had avoided elimination and forced Texas A&M and/or Tennessee to play more, the total attendance mark would be higher for the 2024 CWS.

TV ratings strong, but short of record for CWS finals

ESPN reported strong ratings numbers for this year’s Tennessee-Texas A&M championship series.

Game 1, which aired on ESPN and ESPNU, drew 2.26 million viewers. It’s the third-most watched Game 1 of the championship series for ESPN.

The second game of the championship series was available over the air on ABC. It was also broadcast on ESPNU. It 2.92 million viewers, the most-watched Game 2 of the finals to be shown on ESPN platforms.

The decisive Game 3 drew the most viewers, 3.34 million on ESPN and ESPNU. It’s the second-most watched Game 3 on ESPN platforms.

Last year’s Game 3, in which LSU clobbered Florida, holds the CWS ratings record for ESPN with 3.59 million viewers.

The 2024 College World Series averaged 1.56 million viewers, per Sports Media Watch, down slightly from last year’s number (1.65 million).

This year’s CWS finals averaged 2.82 million viewers. That’s a slight tick down from the 2.86 million last year’s LSU-Florida series drew.
