Florida-Kentucky College World Series game postponed due to weather

Florida and Kentucky will have to wait a few extra hours to play their College World Series elimination game.

The Gators and Wildcats had been scheduled to face off at 7 p.m. ET. Due to the weather forecast in Omaha, UF and UK will instead play Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. ET.

“Due to impending weather, Game 10 of the MCWS between Kentucky & Florida has been postponed to tomorrow, Wednesday June 19 at 10 a.m. CT. Gates will open at 9 a.m. CT. Box Office at 8 a.m. CT,” an official statement reads.”

Moving Game 10 to Wednesday sets up a tripleheader at “The Chuck.”

The winner of the Florida-Kentucky game will play a second game Wednesday, but will get a break.

Game 11 of the CWS will feature Tennessee against the Florida State-North Carolina winner. Game 11 is now scheduled for approximately 3 p.m. ET.

Game 12 will feature the Florida-Kentucky winner in a rematch with Texas A&M. Game 12 is now scheduled for approximately 7 p.m. ET.

Texas A&M defeated Florida 3-2 in a Saturday night game that finished early Sunday morning due to a lengthy weather delay.

The Aggies used Justin Lamkin (3 IP, 1 H, 6 K), Chris Cortez (3 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 6 K, 1 BB) and Evan Aschenbeck (3 IP, 3 H, 4 K, 2 BB) to contain the Florida offense.

UF starter Liam Peterson only made it into the third inning on Saturday, throwing 64 pitches (2.1 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 4 K, 4 BB). UF held the Aggies to 3 runs using Fisher Jameson (3 IP, 1 H, 3 K, 3 BB), Cade Fisher (0.2 IP) and Brandon Neely (2 IP, 1 H, 3 K). Fisher (4 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 K, 1 BB) and Neely (3 IP, 1 H, 6 K, 1 BB) pitched again Monday in Florida’s 5-4 win over NC State to stay alive.

The Aggies slid into the bracket’s driver seat with a 2-0 start by defeating Kentucky 5-1 on Monday. Texas A&M’s Ryan Prager took a no-hitter into the 7th inning, finishing with a line of 6.2 IP, 2 H, 4 K, 1 BB. Josh Stewart handled the final 2.1 innings, logging 1 earned run on 2 hits, striking out 3 while walking 1.

UK used Mason Moore (5 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 3 K, 3 BB), Cameron O’Brien (1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 3 K, 1 BB) and Evan Byers (3 IP, 4 H, 1 BB) in the A&M game.
