The major league baseball season is upon us, as yesterday was the official Opening Day for the league. However, the Tampa Bay Rays and Colorado Rockies got their season started on Friday.
The game was tied at 2 in the bottom of the ninth, when former Missouri baseball player Kameron Misner led off the bottom of the frame. On the very first pitch, Misner hit the ball to deep right field, ending the game with a 351-foot home run to give the Rays a 3-2 win.

It was a moment that Misner will never forget, as it is the very first home run of his career. Misner wasn’t even supposed to start the 2025 season in the majors, as he was originally going to be sent to Triple-AAA. However, due to an injury to Richie Palacios, Misner made the 26-man roster for Opening Day.
During his time at Missouri, Misner hit 21 home runs before being the 35th pick in the 2019 MLB Draft by the Miami Marlins. He was traded to the Rays in 2021.
The Rays are playing their home games this year at George Steinbrenner Field in Tampa due to damage sustained at Tropicana Field during Hurricane Milton.
