Florida State secured a season series win over Florida with a thrilling 9th-inning comeback capped by a walk-off grand slam. The Seminoles leave Jacksonville with an 8-4 victory, going up 2-0 over UF in the season series.
It was a 9th inning full of drama. Florida trailed 3-2 entering the top of the 9th. The Gators had only 1 entering the frame but managed a 2-out rally down to their final strike, taking a 4-3 lead with 2 runs on 2 hits. UF’s lead did not last.
Kevin O’Sullivan stayed with Alex Philpott in the 9th inning. After striking out the side in the 8th inning, Philpott melted down in the 9th.
Jaxson West reached first with a leadoff walk. Hunter Carns was then hit by a pitch. The Seminoles wanted to bunt the runners over, but Philpott issued a walk to load them up with no one out.
Leadoff hitter Gage Harrelson reached on an infield single to 2nd base, tying the game 4-4. Alex Lodise then ended it with a walk-off grand slam to hit for the cycle.

Hitting a walk-off grand slam is cool. Hitting a walk-off grand slam to beat your rival, much cooler. Hitting a walk-off grand slam to beat your rival and complete the cycle? Ridiculous.

No. 4 Florida State improves to 21-3 overall with back-to-back wins over the Gators and Miami Hurricanes. UF, ranked highly to start the season, is now 18-9 overall, having lost 7 of its last 9 to rivals Tennessee, Georgia and FSU.
The Seminoles will look to make it a 3-game winning streak on Friday at Notre Dame. Florida will try to get back on track Thursday against Ole Miss.
