Published:

The Gainesville Super Regional has been delayed due to inclement weather in the area.

That was announced on Friday afternoon, roughly 1 hour before the originally-scheduled first pitch.

According to Gamecock Baseball, the weather is expected to clear at approximately 7 p.m. ET. That would indicate a delay of at least 2 hours.

Here’s the announcement:

***UPDATE***

As of 7 pm, the Gainesville Super Regional is still in an inclement weather delay. There is currently no update on a potential start time for Game 1.

Game 1 of the Gainesville Super Regional is one of 4 contests on the docket for Friday. The game is scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN 2.

However, it’s unclear if the delay will cause a change in plans for the broadcast. ESPN 2 is scheduled to air Day 2 of the men’s track and field NCAA Tournament on Friday beginning at 9 p.m. ET.

Florida, as the host, is favored to win this game. The Gators enter this weekend as the No. 2 overall seed in the country. South Carolina is also seeded and won its regional last week as the No. 15 seed.
