Georgia baseball coach Wes Johnson receives another extension following 2026 CWS

The Georgia Bulldogs and head baseball coach Wes Johnson have agreed to a contract extension. According to a university press release, the new deal will keep Johnson in Athens through the 2032 season.
“We are thrilled to announce another contract extension for Wes Johnson, who has elevated our baseball program to one of the best and most consistent in the country,” Georgia athletic director Josh Brooks said. “His leadership and commitment to excellence resulted in one of the finest seasons in school history last year, including an SEC regular season title, the first-ever SEC Tournament title, a third-place finish at the College World Series and national-leading 13 players selected in the 2026 Major League Baseball draft.”
Johnson, who has been in Athens for three seasons, has a 139-48 record with the Bulldogs. Georgia has been a top-eight national seed in each of Johnson’s three seasons. In 2026, Johnson and the Bulldogs reached the CWS for the first time since 2008.
Prior to his arrival at Georgia, Johnson spent multiple seasons in MLB and the SEC as a pitching coach. From 2016-2023, he worked for Mississippi State (2016), Arkansas (2017-18), the Minnesota Twins (2019-22) and LSU (2023). This extension shows the Bulldogs and Johnson are looking forward to many more successful years together.
