Georgia did it again. For the 4th time in 3 days, the Bulldogs defeated FGCU in their last at-bat.

Sunday’s walk-off win completed a series sweep. After Slate Alford ended the first 3 games, it was Ryan Black’s turn. Black hit a 2-run home run to lift Georgia to a 4-3 victory.

UGA opened the series with a thrilling 10-9 comeback win. The second game of the series, first of a Saturday doubleheader, was won 10-0 via run rule in 7 innings. Game 3, the finale of Saturday’s doubleheader, was 9-8 in 10 innings.

Black said that Georgia embraces the challenge and won’t give up until the final out.

“We are gritty. We face adversity all the time,” Black said after the game, per the team website. “Coming in every day, we put our heads down and go to work.”

Bulldog skipper Wes Johnson says close nonconference games help him get a feel for the squad before the grind of the SEC schedule.

“I think we are still learning a lot,” Johnson said. “I schedule so many games early to try to figure out a lot about our team, so I think we are getting there.”

No. 6 Georgia is now 13-1 on the year. The Dawgs will look to extend their winning streak to 11 games on Tuesday against High Point.
