Jace LaViolette will officially go down as one of the best all-around sluggers in the history of Texas A&M baseball. The junior outfielder arrived with a bang in 2023 and has not slowed down yet.
As a true freshman, LaViolette started 64 games and blasted 21 home runs with a .632 slugging percentage and 18 stolen bases. He followed that up by hitting 29 home runs, the 2nd-most ever in a single season for the Aggies, to go with a .726 slugging and .449 on-base percentage.
LaViolette has been on a similar tear to open his junior campaign, and he officially cemented his position atop A&M’s all-time home run record books on Saturday. In the bottom of the 1st inning vs. Kentucky, LaViolette blasted a 2-out solo home run to tie things up at 1 run apiece.
That blast gives Jace LaViolette his 7th of the season in his 26th game of the year. It is career home run No. 57 for LaViolette, breaking a first-place tie with Daylan Holt. Holt previously set the mark with 56 career home runs and still holds the single-season record for the Aggies with 34 during the 1999 campaign.
It has been a disappointing year for the Aggies with a 13-12 overall mark entering Saturday and a 1-6 mark in the SEC thus far. We’ll see how LaViolette and the Aggies can turn things around in the race to the College World Series in Omaha.
