Jim Schlossnagle will reportedly be the new baseball coach at Texas.
After three seasons as Texas A&M’s head coach, Schlossnagle is on the move from College Station to Austin. Longhorn insider Chip Brown of 247Sports was the first to report the move. National college baseball insider Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball is also reporting Schlossnagle to Texas.

Texas A&M was 135-62 in 3 seasons under Schlossnagle, making the College World Series in 2022 and ’24. Schlossnagle previously coached at TCU (734-343, 2004-21) and UNLV (77-47, 2002-03).
Texas brings in Schlossnagle after announcing the firing of David Pierce on Monday.
Schlossnagle blasted for postgame comments
Schlossnagle-to-Texas had plenty of chatter in the rumor mill before the Longhorn job was officially open. When Pierce was let go, Schlossnagle was widely mentioned as a top candidate.
After Texas A&M fell to Tennessee in Monday’s decisive Game 3 of the College World Series finals, Richard Zane of TexAgs asked Schlossnagle about being rumored for another job without specifically mentioning Texas. The coach had a fiesty response that has aged quite poorly in less than 24 hours.
“I think it’s pretty selfish of you to ask me that question, to be honest with you. But I left my family to be the coach at Texas A&M. I took the job at Texas A&M to never take another job again. And that hasn’t changed in my mind.
“That’s unfair to talk about something like that. That would be like you asking (Braden) Montgomery if he’s going to sign in the draft. But I understand you’ve got to ask the question. But I gave up a big part of my life to come take this job. And I poured every ounce of my soul in this job and I gave this job every ounce I could possibly give it. Write that.”
As one might expect, Schlossnagle is taking a lot of heat on social media for taking the Texas job so soon after his postgame comments.
After his postgame performance in which he berated a reporter for asking him a question that had to be asked, if Jim Schlossnagle leaves the Aggies for the Longhorns, he’ll have no credibility for the rest of his career and will be branded as a liar by many.

It’s happening. Jim Schlossnagle will be named the next head coach of Texas Baseball per @ChipBrown247
Schloss just became arguably the most hated man of all time in The Lone Star State.

Jim Schlossnagle leaving Texas A&M to become the Head Coach of the Texas Longhorns less than 24 hours after losing the College World Series is an all-time villain move.
I respect the hell out of a guy embracing the villain role. College baseball NEEDED a villain. I love this

As if the Texas-Texas A&M rivalry needed any more spice. The Longhorns and Aggies are set to be permanent opponents in the 16-team league, beginning in the 2025 season.
