For the first time ever, college baseball programs will appear in the MLB The Show franchise.
That news was announced on Tuesday afternoon. Players will be able to start their careers at the high school level before continuing on to select colleges in the Road to The Show mode.
While a specific list of schools were not included in the announcement, the game franchise did give some clues as to which programs are involved.Tennessee, LSU and South Carolina and UCLA were amongst the schools included in a new trailer for the game.
“Even a game as timeless as baseball must evolve,” the trailer says. “From the early years of high school to the thrill of college baseball, to the promise of the minors … only you can control your journey’s evolution.”
Here’s a look at the official trailer:
In addition to college programs participating in the game, MLB The Show will also feature metal bats for games played at the amateur level.
This is just the latest development for college sports fans in the sports video game world. EA Sports released its first iteration of its college football video game franchise in more than a decade last summer and has already announced that College Football 26 will be released later this summer.
MLB The Show 25 will launch on March 18.
