NCAA reportedly approves adding full-time coaching positions to baseball, softball

The NCAA reportedly made a long-awaited move that baseball and softball programs and coaches have wanted for years.

Kendall Rogers of D1 Baseball reported that the NCAA’s Division I Council has approved a measure to turn all volunteer positions in baseball and softball (and in all sports) into a full-time coaching position without recruiting constraints. Volunteers will officially become full-time coaches on July 1, 2023.

This move means baseball and softball will now match basketball with 3 full-time assistants.

That triggered those around college baseball, which has 11.7 scholarships, to expand those as well.
