With the calendar turning to April, baseball has stepped into the SEC spotlight. The 2022 SEC baseball season is into its third weekend of conference play, and there has already been plenty of excitement.

This weekend’s slate is headlined by No. 1 Tennessee at No. 3 Vanderbilt, one of the hottest tickets in sports.

Friday’s series opener went to Tennessee. The game opened with some drama over an illegal bat call on the Volunteers’ Jordan Beck, taking a 1st-inning home run off the board. UT batters, however, managed to score 6 more runs without issue, while Chase Burns held the Commodores to 2 runs. Tennessee’s 6-2 win extended the team’s win streak to 17 games, a program record.

Game 2 of the Tennessee-Vandy series will be in primetime on the SEC Network as the Vols go for the series win. The second game of the Texas A&M-Alabama series is also scheduled to be broadcast on the SEC Network, while the other 5 SEC games are streaming on SEC Network+.

One division rivalry series has already been decided. No. 23 Georgia defeated No. 14 Florida 7-6 Thursday by scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to get the walk-off win. The Bulldogs dominated Friday’s Game 2, winning 6-1 to clinch the series. UGA goes for the sweep on Saturday afternoon.

Auburn took Game 1 from No. 13 LSU 6-5 on Thursday night in Baton Rouge. LSU bounced back Friday with a 9-2 win. Saturday afternoon’s rubber match will decide the series.

No. 2 Arkansas and No. 10 Ole Miss each notched series-opening wins Friday. Here’s the full Saturday schedule:
