Day of 2 of the SEC Tournament in Hoover will get underway on Wednesday morning.

The SEC Tournament’s top-4 seeds will be in action for the first time on Wednesday. Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky and Texas A&M all earned a day off on Tuesday. Vanderbilt, South Carolina, LSU and Mississippi State were all victorious on Tuesday, earning a spot in the second round.

Wednesday’s action also marks the start of the double-elimination format in the SEC Tournament. The double-elimination model will stay in-effect until the semifinals of this event, which could have an impact on starting pitcher choices in the early rounds.

Here’s a preview of Wednesday’s slate along with the latest betting lines for each game:

No. 11 LSU vs. No. 3 Kentucky | 10:30 a.m. ET | SEC Network

LSU is a -130 favorite (per DraftKings) in this game despite being the No. 11 seed. The Tigers pulled off a big upset over No. 6 Georgia on Wednesday to even make it to this game, while Kentucky earned a first-round bye after a stellar regular season.

Travis Smith earned the starting nod for the Wildcats despite posting a 6.06 ERA during the regular season. With the double-elimination format, the Wildcats seem to be taking a gamble that they can save their better rotation arms for later in the tournament.

LSU is not taking the same risk. Luke Holman will be on the bump for the Tigers in this contest. He was LSU’s most effective pitcher all season, as he managed a 2.73 ERA across 79 innings of work.

No. 10 South Carolina vs. No. 2 Arkansas | 2:00 p.m. ET | SEC Network

Arkansas earned the No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament after winning the SEC West this year. The Razorbacks, led by a stellar starting rotation, proved to be one of the best teams in the country all season long.

On Wednesday afternoon, Arkansas will turn to mid-week starter Ben Bybee against South Carolina. Bybee made 6 starts this year and posted an ERA of 6 in 24 innings of work. Still, the Razorbacks are significant favorites (-175) against South Carolina in this matchup.

Eli Jones is expected to get the nod as South Carolina’s starting pitcher in this game. Jones had an ERA over 5 this season, but he has some experience against this Arkansas lineup. Earlier this year, Jones limited the Razorbacks to 1 earned run over 4 innings of work. However, he did allow 7 hits in that outing as well.

Despite the overall record, Arkansas had one of the worst offenses in the SEC this season. With that in mind, it’s difficult to back the Razorbacks as a big favorite when they’re starting a pitcher in Bybee who had an ERA over 9 against SEC hitters in 2024. FanDuel is currently offering South Carolina money line at +128.

No. 8 Vanderbilt vs. No. 1 Tennessee | 5:30 p.m. ET | SEC Network

Vanderbilt defeated Florida on Tuesday night to advance to this matchup and significantly improve its chances at earning an at-large bid. A win over the Vols would be even more massive for the Commodores’ postseason chances, but Vandy enters this game as a huge underdog.

Tennessee is -215 on the money line, according to the latest odds from ESPN BET. Vanderbilt is priced at +145 at the same book.

Tennessee may design a bullpen game for this second-round battle against Vanderbilt. Earlier this week, coach Tony Vitello told reporters that he wants to avoid wearing out the Vols’ pitching staff in Hoover.

“We would like to use those guys, as many of them as possible, and not wear anyone out to the point where they’re breaking their record for personal amount of pitches thrown,” Vitello said, via the UT Daily Beacon.

Vanderbilt’s starting pitcher for this game is also unknown as of publication. Bryce Cunningham threw 6 shutout innings on Tuesday night vs. Florida, but the other starters in Vandy’s rotation figure to be available for this game. Brennan Seiber tossed the remaining 3 frames in Vandy’s win over the Gators.

Tennessee took 2-of-3 from the Commodores in a regular-season series in Nashville.

No. 5 Mississippi State vs. No. 4 Texas A&M | 9:00 p.m. ET | SEC Network

Mississippi State just barely edged past rival Ole Miss on Tuesday night to make it to this game. The Bulldogs needed a 2-run walk-off home run to advance, and will now get a shot at the No. 4-seeded Aggies.

Texas A&M won the regular-season series between these clubs, taking 2-of-3 in College Station.

Pitching matchups for this contest are currently unknown. Texas A&M hasn’t played yet in Hoover, so the Aggies will have their full staff available to them in this game.

Mississippi State used only 2 pitchers against Ole Miss on Tuesday night. Everyone except Brooks Auger, who threw 8 innings of 1-run ball against the Rebels, figures to be available for this meeting with the Aggies.

Texas A&M is a -190 favorite in this game, according to DraftKings. The same books is offering Mississippi State on the money line at +145.
