Tennessee baseball has taken last season’s run to a national championship and continued that momentum right into 2025.

The Volunteers captured their first national title in 2024, and now the season after they still haven’t lost a game as we hit mid-March. Tennessee kicked off SEC play this weekend in Knoxville by taking down conference rival Florida in a weekend sweep that was capped with Sunday’s 7-4 victory.

The second-ranked Vols improved to a staggering 20-0 overall and are 3-0 in the league after being very rude hosts to the hated Gators. They are also the only undefeated team in the country, and remaining perfect this past weekend was no small accomplishment with Florida being ranked 7th.

The Gators still leave Knoxville with a solid 16-5 record even after losing all 3 games to the Vols, but their season took a bad little detour as they suddenly sit 0-3 in SEC play and will have some ground to make up as conference play gets going.

Tennessee began the weekend with a 5-3 victory over Florida on Friday. Then things got ugly on Saturday in Knoxville, as the Volunteers took apart the Gators in a 10-0 beatdown that was shortened to 7 innings because of the 10-run rule.

The Vols brought the brooms out on Sunday, and now they’ll look to get to 21-0 with a midweek home game on Tuesday against East Tennessee State.
