Liam Doyle fanned 8 in 6 innings, Dylan Loy got a pair of Aggies to ground out in the seventh inning, and No. 1 Tennessee (28-2) recorded its second no-hitter of the season in a 10-0 run-rule win over Texas A&M on Friday.

The Vols opened the weekend series with the Aggies with their eighth straight victory. Doyle and Loy teamed up for the fifth combined no-hitter in school history. Doyle found himself in a bit of trouble in the fourth inning, walking one Aggie batter and then hitting the next. He did the same in the sixth. Both times, Tennessee’s defense made plays to strand runners and get out of the frames unscathed.

Doyle earned his fifth win of the season. Loy worked 12 pitches in the seventh to end the game.

Tennessee threw a combined no-hitter on March 7 in a 12-0 win over St. Bonaventure. Doyle teamed up with Tanner Franklin, Brandon Arvidson, Brayden May, and Michael Sharman that day. That was the first no-hitter for the program since 2002 and the first combined no-hitter since 2000.

Friday’s performance was also the first no-hitter in an SEC game since March of 2021, when Vanderbilt pitcher Jack Leiter no-hit South Carolina.

In the first meeting between the 2 sides since last year’s College World Series, the defending champs reaffirmed themselves as the best team in the country. Andrew Fischer hit 2 home runs that drove home 4 runs. Hunter Ensley hit a homer as well and finished with 3 RBI. Five different Vols had an RBI while 8 players recorded at least 1 hit.

UT had 3 no-hitters during the 1976 season. That was the only other time in school history the Vols have had multiple no-hitters in a season.
