Stealing home is one of the rarer plays in baseball. It’s extremely rare that a game ends on a 2-out walk-off steal, but that’s what happened Friday night between No. 16 Texas Tech and No. 4 Texas.
It was 4-4 in the bottom of the 10th inning. Texas Tech was down to its last out of the inning with runners on 2nd and 3rd. Kurt Wilson then decided to take off for home. Wilson got just such a good jump that the Longhorns did not make a throw to the plate.

“Once we got to 2 outs, we got communication that if we got in a position when we needed to do it, we’re gonna do it,” Texas Tech head coach Tim Tadlock said after the game, per the team website. “Kurt made it happen. No doubt about it. Kurt’s initial lead allowed him to do it, the baseball player Kurt is, allowed him to do it.”
