Aaliyah Chavez, the consensus No. 1 women’s basketball recruit in the country, committed to Oklahoma on Tuesday afternoon.

Chavez chose the Sooners over programs like Texas, Texas Tech, LSU and more. She made her announcement live on ESPN:

Chavez is a massive addition for Oklahoma. The Sooners are in the Sweet 16 this year for the first time since 2013 but are looking to grow their program to new heights under head coach Jennie Baranczyk. This is her 4th season at the helm after she was hired to replace longtime coach Sherri Coale.

Chavez is expected to be immediately-impactful as a freshman. According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Chavez is expected to sign a deal with Jordan Brand “in the future.”

Here’s video of the Oklahoma women’s basketball coaching staff reacting to Chavez’s announcement:

Oklahoma defeated Iowa in the Round of 32 on Monday. The Sooners will now have to get past UConn if they want to get to the Elite Eight for the first time since 2010. OU will face the Huskies on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. ET.
