Andrew Carr and Kentucky are already 2-0 against Tennessee this season. However, the Wildcats will need to make that 3-0 in order to reach the Elite Eight.
The two SEC basketball foes are among the 7 teams from the conference in the Sweet 16. With that amount of firepower from one league, finding rivals on the other side of the bracket is bound to happen, and Carr believes round 3 of Kentucky vs. Tennessee will come down to toughness.
“A lot of times in March, it comes down to who’s going to be the tougher team,” admitted Carr. “We know that’s their identity, and for us to be successful, we have to do a great job defensive rebounding and being super physical there.”
Kentucky has already figured out the formula of beating Tennessee, taking down the Vols 78-73 in Knoxville and then again in Lexington, 75-64. But this time around, bet365 has the Vols as a 4.5-point favorite, and fans can grab the Kentucky sportsbook promos for the top offers throughout March Madness.
After facing Tennessee twice already, Carr was also asked if he would prefer to see a different opponent this time around. Carr admitted, with a laugh, that he would prefer not to see another SEC team at this juncture, but that’s going to be tougher with the field still loaded with programs out of the conference.
“Honestly, probably just would rather not play an SEC team. It’s kind of tough when you have 7 SEC teams out of the 16, but for us, we’re excited to be able to play against Tennessee again,” Carr said. “It’s going to be such a great game, a high stakes game.”
