Auburn fans roll Toomer’s Corner after Tigers beat Michigan State

Auburn fans are having themselves a pretty good weekend, as the Tigers defeated Michigan State, 70-64, to clinch a spot in the Final Four. Johni Broome showed why he is a legitimate contender to win the national player of the year, as he finished with 25 points and 14 rebounds in the game. He left the game with an apparent injury, but he was able to come back in the game and help the Tigers win.
As you can imagine, fans back at Auburn were celebrating like crazy, as this is only the second ever Final Four berth in the history of Auburn basketball. The only other time was 2018-19, when the Tigers lost to eventual national champion Virginia.
While it is generally used as a celebration for the football team, students and fans were already celebrating at Toomer’s Corner and the infamous toilet paper.
The tradition is named after former state Senator Shel Toomer, who was a halfback on the first Auburn football team in 1892. He founded Toomer’s Drugs in 1896, and it is still a small business on that corner. The Toomer Oaks were removed in 2013, after the infamous poisoning of the tree in 2010.
However, that tradition has only continued to go on, and if the Tigers are able to keep things rolling next week, the celebrating at Toomer’s Corner will only continue.
