Bulletin board material: CBS analyst calls Ole Miss an NCAA Tournament ‘fraud’

Ole Miss does not know its NCAA Tournament opponent yet, but it already has some bulletin board material to provide some motivation for its first-round March Madness matchup.

North Carolina and San Diego State both drew the No. 11 seed in the South region of the NCAA Tournament. They will face off in a First Four play-in game in Dayton, with the winner advancing to take on the Rebels. CBS Sports analyst Tim Doyle boldly stated either team should beat Ole Miss.

“I think Ole Miss is a fraud,” Doyle said on CBS Sports. “We were debating if San Diego State or North Carolina were gonna get in. They both get in. Whoever wins that game is beating Ole Miss. Ole Miss gets a lot of love because they play in a great conference. They had a lot of opportunities and stuff. Eyeball test with Ole Miss – that is a fraud at No. 6.”

Fraud seems harsh to describe a 6-seed that picked up wins over Louisville, Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee during the regular season. The Rebels are 22-11 overall entering the NCAA Tournament.

If Ole Miss makes it to the Round of 32, Doyle is sure to hear a lot about his cold take.
