Buzz Williams reportedly making push for other job, per report

Buzz Williams has turned Texas A&M into one of the top programs in the SEC. The Aggies earned a No. 4 seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, then took down 13-seed Yale before bowing out against 5-seed Michigan in Round 2.
The Aggies finished the year with an overall record of 23-11 and went 11-7 in SEC play.
In 6 seasons at the helm of the A&M program, Williams has amassed a 120-73 overall record with 3 NCAA Tournament appearances. But now it appears he may be looking for a change of scenery.
Per college hoops insider Jeff Goodman, Williams is trying to get involved in the Maryland coaching search if and when Kevin Willard leaves for another job:
Willard has been linked to the Villanova opening. He’s handled things so poorly this postseason, even Maryland fans were booing him before the Sweet 16:
He’s also been very critical of the Maryland administration during the NCAA Tournament. We’ll see what the future holds for the Terrapins, who just lost to Florida in the Sweet 16 on Thursday night.
As for Williams, Goodman’s original tweet mentioned that he was interested in the opening at Xavier, too. But Goodman edited the post to remove that part:
Will Texas A&M need to find a new men’s basketball coach this offseason? We’ll see what happens as we wait for the Kevin Willard and Villanova dominos to drop.
