College basketball PA announcer goes viral for zany in-game performance

College basketball is not traditionally known for its in-venue public address announcers. However, that is absolutely not the case for Prairie View A&M.
On Tuesday night, the Panthers faced Mississippi Valley State in a contest between bottom-feeders in the SWAC. Both programs are suffering at well below .500 on the year, and PV A&M entered on a 10-game losing streak.
However, that did not stop the PA announcer from delivering the performance of a lifetime in Tuesday’s game. The first clip of his performance was actually shared by Mississippi Valley State for a 2nd-half 3-pointer by the Panthers, complete with a held-out call of the play and some interesting selections from the soundboard.

Never mind the fact that the venue appeared to be operating at about a 10% capacity, the PA announcer continued undeterred. In fact, Mississippi Valley State took the opportunity to compile a highlight reel of sorts from the entire game, much to the delight of fans on social media.
The original clip has been viewed over 380,000 times on X (formerly Twitter) while the highlight reel piece has cracked over 355,000 views. It just goes to show you never know who will surface as the star of the show, even in an afterthought college basketball game.
Oh, and the actual game being played on the court? Prairie View A&M did come out on top, 64-56, to improve to 5-23 on the season (4-11 in conference play). Meanwhile, Mississippi Valley State fell to 3-25 overall and is last in the SWAC at just 1-14.
But for one night, it was the PA announcer’s show, and he made the most of it!
