College GameDay is predicting a title rematch in the SEC Tournament.
After a chalky Friday, the semifinal round of the SEC Tournament pits the top 4 seeds against each other. Auburn, the regular-season champion, beat Ole Miss to advance and set up a matchup with Tennessee. Should the Tigers win, they’ll head back to the SEC title game for a second consecutive season and move within a win of a title sweep.
They could face either Florida or Alabama, who will meet in the second semifinal game on Saturday. Florida beat Alabama, 99-94, in Tuscaloosa on March 5. A follow-up win would give the Gators a chance to avenge last year’s title loss. Should Alabama hand the Gators a loss, it would make its third title game in the last 5 seasons.
Here’s how the panel on ESPN’s traveling pregame show picked the 2 games.
2-seed Florida vs. 3-seed Alabama
- Jay Williams: Florida
- Seth Greenberg: Florida
“I think Florida can win a national championship,” Williams said. “I think Alex Condon and company in the frontcourt will be the difference in this game on the offensive glass.”
“I can’t find a weakness,” added Greenberg. “They get the shot they want, you don’t get the shot you want.”
1-seed Auburn vs. 4-seed Tennessee
- Jay Williams: Auburn
- Seth Greenberg: Auburn
“I think the length and athleticism of Auburn defensively is the difference,” Greenberg said.
