Cooper Flagg has been ruled out for the remainder of Thursday’s ACC Tournament quarterfinal game between Duke and Georgia Tech, according to the game broadcast.

The Blue Devils’ star freshman forward left the game late in the first half after appearing to injure his ankle on a rebound attempt. Flagg was helped off the floor by teammates, unable to put weight on his left ankle. He was then seen being taken to the examination room in a wheelchair.

Flagg left the x-ray room walking under his own power and did not have a boot or cast over that injured ankle, an encouraging sign for Blue Devils fans as March Madness approaches. He returned to the Duke bench in the second half, but is not expected to return, according to ESPN.

Flagg leads the Blue Devils (28-3, 19-1 ACC) this season in scoring with more than 19 points per game. The freshman forward averaged 21.2 points per game in ACC play. Flagg also leads his team in rebounds (7.6), assists (4.2), steals (1.5), and blocks (1.3).

He is the leading contender for the Wooden Award as the national player of the year and his Blue Devils are expected to challenge for the national title, according to the latest March Madness odds.

The first round of the NCAA Tournament is set to begin on March 20. The Sweet 16 begins on March 27 with the Elite Eight following on March 29. The Final Four tips off on April 5.
