The Final Four is almost set, but first 2 more teams will punch their tickets to San Antonio on Sunday.
Tennessee will battle Houston in the early game before Auburn takes on Michigan State at approximately 5:05 p.m. ET. There’s already 1 SEC team in the Final Four with Florida securing its place on Saturday. Duke has also earned a spot following its dominant win over Alabama.
As for Sunday’s action…

Zakai Zeigler, Tennessee: Less than 13.5 points
I hate going against big-time players like Zakai Zeigler this deep into the tournament, but I think this projection is just a bit high. Zeigler only averaged about 14 points per game during SEC play this season under normal circumstances. Now he’s facing an elite Houston defense in an NCAA Tournament game. The Vols and Cougars both move at glacial paces, so the number of possessions in this game could be quite low.
Yes, Zeigler has blown past this projection in 5 of his last 6 games. That possibility is there. But he’s also been living at the free-throw line of late and Houston has put up some pretty impressive defensive free throw rate numbers during the postseason.
Emanuel Sharp, Houston: Less than 2.5 made 3-pointers
Emanuel Sharp is arguably the best 3-point shooter on arguably the best 3-point shooting team in the country. Houston made 3-pointers at a 39.8% clip this season, which ranks 1st nationally entering Sunday’s game. Sharp himself is just north of 40%, although he’s been a little worse (36%) since conference play began and significantly worse (31%) over the past 4 games.
Sharp is also facing a Tennessee defense that’s just about as good as it gets when it comes to defending the perimeter. The Vols are 3rd nationally in 3-point percentage defense entering this game. And like with Zeigler, the pace of this game should limit Sharp’s opportunity enough that he doesn’t go more than this projection.
Coen Carr, Michigan State: More than 13 points+rebounds
Coen Carr has been electric during the NCAA Tournament. Aside from his highlight-reel dunks, Carr has gone over this projection on points alone in 2 of his last 3 games. One of the best pure athletes in all of college basketball, Carr has taken on a much bigger role for the Spartans offensively during the postseason. He averaged just over 7 points per game during Big Ten play during the regular season but that number has ballooned to 11.4 per night since the start of the Big Ten Tournament.
I also love this matchup for Carr from a rebounding perspective. He’s been an awesome offensive rebounder (more than 3 per game during the NCAA Tournament) and the defensive glass is a big weakness for Auburn. It’s really the Tigers’ only major flaw in their statistical profile as they rank 310th nationally in that department on the season. Carr has the skill and athleticism to cause real problems for Auburn and I believe he will.
