Auburn F Johni Broome higher than 28.5 points + rebounds
The Tigers’ National Player of the Year candidate has been doing everything of late. He scored 23 points and grabbed 15 boards in the quarterfinal victory over Ole Miss. He scored 34 points and grabbed 8 rebounds against Alabama on the final day of the regular season. Broome had an uncharacteristically poor showing against Texas A&M on March 4 and didn’t need to do much against Kentucky on March 1, but he has cleared this P+R number in 7 of his last 10 games. He had 16 points and 14 boards when these 2 teams met back in January, and that game featured just 104 combined points. Whether it’s another grind-it-out affair or not, Broome is going to be a central figure in getting Auburn back to the SEC Tournament title game. This time of the year, your best players have to turn up, and Broome turns up every time he’s needed.
Tennessee G Zakai Zeigler lower than 6.5 assists
Auburn’s brand of defense makes it extremely hard for opposing offenses to stay in rhythm. Ole Miss had just 6 assists as a team during Friday’s quarterfinal game. It was the 17th time this season that an Auburn opponent had been held to single-digit assists in a game against the Tigers. Zeigler set the Tennessee single-season assists record on Friday when he finished with 6 helpers in 29 minutes. He has 29 in his last 3 games. But he only had 5 in the first meeting with Auburn and could be in line for a similar number on Saturday. Per KenPom, Auburn holds its opponents to the seventh-lowest assist rate in Division I this year at just 40.7%.
Florida F Alex Condon higher than 20.5 points + rebounds
Condon was quiet (by his standards) on Friday against Mizzou, but Florida didn’t need him to assert himself. Each of Florida’s 3 guards topped 17 points and the Gators cruised to a 14-point win. Condon still finished with 9 points and 8 boards in 26 minutes. He had 17 and 15 in Florida’s regular-season finale. Before that, in a 99-94 win over Alabama, Condon exploded for 27 and 10 boards. Condon looks 100% now after an injury limited him in February. Against the Crimson Tide on Saturday, he’ll have an opportunity for another big showing. Florida has consistently dented the scoreboard against this Alabama team, with an average of 102 points per game over the last 3 meetings.
Alabama G Labaron Philon higher than 0.5 3-pointers made
Since moving back into the starting lineup on Feb. 19, Philon has taken at least 9 shots in 6 of his 7 games. He has taken multiple 3s in all 7 games. And he has made at least 1 in 6 of the 7. When Philon has been aggressive on the offensive end, the 3-ball has been a steady part of his diet. That included Friday against Kentucky when he made 8 of his 14 shots (and 1 triple) to score 21 points. Philon is certainly trending up, and Alabama will need all hands on deck Saturday to beat the Gators and make the SEC Tournament title game.
