Dick Vitale is one of the legendary figures in sports broadcasting and a true icon in the world of college basketball. The longtime broadcaster for ESPN also holds a cherished spot in the hearts of many for his journey through cancer off the court.

In recent years, Vitale battled multiple forms of cancer, including an ailment with his vocal cords. It forced Vitale out of his usual role from 2023 until returning to call games earlier this month.

On Saturday, Vitale is behind the mic for a crucial SEC showdown between Kentucky and Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Unfortunately, many fans on social media have expressed some level of concern for Vitale and the overall health of his voice.

Some of that is likely to be expected with everything the broadcaster has been through, but a number of fans questioned the best route forward with Vitale at this juncture. Hopefully, it’s just a small blip before a successful conclusion to the season for Vitale with the legendary broadcaster’s career dating back to 1979.
