Dick Vitale had an emotional sign-off from the ACC Tournament on Saturday night as he called Duke’s win over Louisville.

Vitale was away from the booth for about 2 years as he endured multiple bouts with cancer. He was able to make his return to ESPN broadcasts earlier this year and took a moment on Saturday to share his gratitude to fans who have supported him along the way.

Vitale also had a message for anyone who may be battling cancer.

“It’s been like, to me, a miracle, really, to sit here with you guys,” Vitale said. “I can’t tell you how much it meant to me. It’s been unbelievable. A tough 3 years, those 4 cancer battles that I don’t wish on anybody. Cancer sucks. I’ll tell you this. Anybody battling cancer, please listen. Think positive always and have faith and believe. And if you’re out there as a person that knows somebody with cancer, send him a text message. Send him a phone call, or make a phone call. The bottom line, it means so much.”

Here’s a clip from Vitale’s emotional moment on the call:

Vitale’s work for the 2024-25 season may be over, but hopefully he will be healthy enough to return to the ESPN booth for another season next year.
