Elite 3-point shooter with Auburn ties reportedly enters transfer portal
Abdi Bashir Jr., an elite 3-point shooter who played for Monmouth in 2024-25, reportedly has plans to enter the transfer portal.
That’s according to On3’s Joe Tipton. This portal entry may be of particular interest to Auburn fans, as Bashir as a close tie-in to Bruce Pearl’s program. His twin brother, Abdul Bashir, is a JUCO product who is committed to Auburn and is slated to be part of the team next season.
Bashir just wrapped up his sophomore season at Monmouth. As Tipton notes below, he led the country in made 3-pointers this season with 127. In addition to entering the portal, Bashir is expected to test his NBA draft stock as well.
In addition to elite volume from beyond the arc, Bashir was also efficient. He made more than 38% of his looks from beyond the arc on over 10 attempts per game. At 6-foot-7, Bashir would be an intriguing option to add to Auburn’s 2025-26 roster.
Auburn will presumably be looking to add talent via the transfer portal this offseason. The Tigers have several seniors on the team, led by Wooden Award candidate Johni Broome. But first, Auburn will take on Michigan in the Sweet 16 on Friday evening.
