Elliot Cadeau has entered the transfer portal, according to multiple reports.

The former 5-star guard will be moving on from North Carolina this offseason after spending the last 2 seasons in Chapel Hill. On3’s Pete Nakos was first to share that news on Tuesday afternoon.

Cadeau is a big loss for the Tar Heels. He’s started 68 games for Carolina over the past 2 seasons and was a solid point guard for the Tar Heels as a sophomore in 2024-25. He averaged over 9 points and 6 assists per game this season while shooting a career-best 34% from 3-point range.

Cadeau is originally from New Jersey. He entered the transfer portal with a ‘do not contact’ tag, per Nakos.

His exit sets the scene for a fascinating offseason under Hubert Davis in Chapel Hill. Carolina will now need to find a new point guard for next season while also worrying about retaining players such as Drake Powell, Seth Trimble and Ven-Allen Lubin. Carolina also may be looking for a starting center in the transfer portal this offseason as well as a wing who can be a high-level 3-point shooter.

North Carolina made the NCAA Tournament this season as one of the last teams in the field. The Tar Heels were ultimately knocked out by Ole Miss in the Round of 64.
