ESPN bracketology expert Joe Lunardi names SEC bubble team in best position to make NCAA Tournament
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi had some encouraging analysis for Georgia basketball fans on Tuesday night.
Now, it’s up to the Bulldogs to follow through.
During halftime of the Georgia-South Carolina game in Columbia, ESPN’s expert bracketologist said he believes there is one SEC team that is very close to locking up an NCAA Tournament berth. And it’s the school that resides in Athens.
I think of all the SEC bubble teams, Georgia is in the best position. … I think Georgia only needs one more win, whether it be (Tuesday night), on Saturday against Vanderbilt, or in the opener of the SEC Tournament.
Georgia came into Tuesday night’s crucial game at South Carolina with an 18-11 overall record and a 6-10 mark in the rugged SEC. The Bulldogs were up by 11 points at halftime when Lunardi said what he said, and Georgia was trying to close out the gritty Gamecocks down the stretch.
Just last week, the Bulldogs beefed up their NCAA Tournament resume by taking down Florida in Athens. As Lunardi mentioned, Georgia will close out its regular season on Saturday at home against Vanderbilt before it heads to the SEC Tournament next week.
But if Lunardi is right, and he’s arguably the point man when it comes to these things this time of year, then Georgia might be good to go when it comes to the NCAA Tournament by night’s end.
