Florida won its third men’s basketball National Championship on Monday night and the celebration back in Gainesville was what you would expect.

Fans filled up the O’Connell Center to watch the game on the big screen. When the final buzzer sounded following Houston’s turnover in the final seconds, the building erupted. Fans even ended up storming the court during the celebration.

Here’s a clip from that special moment via WFTV’s Alex Walker:

The celebration didn’t stop there, of course. Florida fans eventually made their way outside where they flooded University Avenue. Here’s a clip of that celebration:

Florida made history with this win, becoming the first-ever program to win three national championships in both football and men’s basketball. UF’s previous men’s basketball titles came back in 2006 and 2007 when Billy Donovan was leading the program.

Florida’s defense was huge on Monday night in its 65-63 win over the Cougars. The Gators overcame a 12-point deficit in the second half mostly because of their work on the defensive end of the floor. Houston turned the ball over 4 times and didn’t score any points in the last two minutes of the game.
