Florida has its hands full with UConn.
The No. 1 seed Gators are tied 31-31 with 8-seed UConn at halftime of the 1st second-round game. Florida is trying for its first Sweet 16 since 2017 while the Huskies are looking to keep their 3-peat bid alive as back-to-back defending national champions.
Neither team looked particularly strong on offense. Florida has the higher shooting percentage (38-32), but UConn has taken 8 more field-goal attempts (34-26). The Huskies started 1-of-11 from the field, but made 10 of their next 23 attempts.
The Gators have already committed 9 turnovers, but the Huskies have only managed 2 points off turnovers. UConn has 5 steals and 2 blocks while committing only 3 turnovers.
Here’s a sample of what fans are saying on social media:
We’ve seen this song and dance before between Florida and UConn… Starting to have really bad memories

UCONN wants to win this game more than Florida.

That is evident right now.

UConn keeping this game low scoring might be the reason they pull off the upset. Florida so offensive powered they boxed this 1st half

Florida needs to stop turning it over and letting UConn make it a slugfest. Haven’t rebounded well and not playing their style of game. They’ve got more talent and depth. UConn has the coach and dynasty brand. Feels like UF is feeling the name on jersey too much.

What makes UConn dangerous as an underdog – especially to a team like Florida that's used to playing fast – is their slow tempo. The offense they run lends itself to a lot of exhaustive sets that drain the shot clock and shorten the game.
