Florida and Todd Golden are coming off a national championship, but it is now time to start to get ready to defend that title next year. The Gators will be losing its entire starting backcourt Will Clayton Jr., Alijah Martin and Will Richard, who formed arguably the best backcourt in the country.

Clayton was especially dominant in the NCAA Tournament run, as he finished with 134 points in the 6 games.

Losing that type of talent in the backcourt leaves a huge void, but Florida got started on Wednesday as Princeton guard Xavian Lee announced his commitment to UF.

Lee had an outstanding year in 2024-25, as he averaged 16.9 PPG, 6.1 RPG and 5.5 APG. He played in 91 games during his time at Princeton, starting 59 of those games the last 2 seasons.

He chose the Gators over St. John’s, Duke and Kentucky, and gives Golden a guy who is capable of making plays for himself, as well as teammates.

Teams are all in the transfer portal right now trying to get better, and ultimately, knock off Florida. Golden and his staff have been phenomenal when it comes to building a team from the portal, and they will need to deliver again for next year.
