Mike White is looking to keep Georgia basketball rolling right along after the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in a decade. On Sunday, that includes the Bulldogs reportedly picking up a commitment from a former top-50 prospect.

According to Joe Tipton with On3 Sports, Georgia landed a commitment from former BYU freshman Kanon Catchings. He was originally a 4-star forward who played for Atlanta’s Overtime Elite in high school as one of the top overall prospects in the 2024 recruiting class.

As a true freshman with the Cougars, the 6-foot-9 Catchings averaged 7.2 points and 2.2 rebounds while shooting 35% from 3-point range. Catchings reportedly chose Georgia over North Carolina in the portal.

According to the 247 Sports Composite, Catchings was the No. 41 prospect in the country and the 8th PF for the 2024 recruiting class. As a transfer, Catchings received a 4-star rating from 247 Sports.

The transfer portal has provided some dividends for the Bulldogs while also claiming some key contributors. Four players have entered the portal since the season ended, including losing Silas Demary Jr. to UConn and RJ Godfrey to Clemson. However, Catchings is the 3rd transfer to commit to Georgia, joining Justin Bailey (Wofford) and Jeremiah Wilkinson (Cal).
