Grant Nelson is a key part of the Alabama team, and that was on full display during the game against Florida in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament. While he was playing, the Crimson Tide were leading that game 42-41 with 3:40 remaining. However, he left the game with a knee injury, and the Gators outscored the Crimson Tide 63-40 the rest of the way.

On Sunday, Alabama coach Nate Oats provided more of an update on his star forward.

“We’re hoping to get Grant back,” Oats said. “He’s going to see the knee specialist tomorrow morning and get a better idea of a timeframe on getting him back.”

Nelson will be going to see a knee specialist on Monday, where the Crimson Tide staff will learn more of when Nelson can potentially can get back.

The game against Florida showed how valuable that Nelson is. When he is on the floor, Alabama is capable of making it to the Final Four. After the game against Florida, Oats was not happy with how his team competed after Nelson left, and even said his team needs to do some soul searching before their first game.

One positive for Alabama is the fact their first round game against Robert Morris will be on Friday. That will give Nelson a little extra time to get healthy.
