Jason Edwards is moving on from Vanderbilt after enjoying a breakout campaign in 2024-25.

Edwards averaged an efficient 17 points per game this season as he led the Commodores to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017. According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Edwards will enter the transfer portal this offseason in search of a new program for 2025-26.

Tipton also notes that Edwards will test the NBA Draft waters as well:

Edwards was Vanderbilt’s primary option offensively this season. Edwards was 1 of just 2 Vanderbilt players to average double-figures during SEC play (Tyler Nickel was the other at just over 10 points per game).

His departure is a big loss for a Vandy program that surely was looking to generate some momentum after making the Big Dance this season in Year 1 under Mark Byington. To further complicate matters, guards AJ Hoggard and Chris Manon are also set to leave Vandy this offseason as they are now out of college eligibility.

Byington’s staff will have their work cut out for them if they want to make it back to March Madness next spring. Edwards spent 1 season at Vanderbilt after previously starring for North Texas in 2023-24.
