Jay Williams is one of ESPN’s top college basketball personalities and the former Duke star revealed his full March Madness bracket on Thursday. But don’t expect a whole lot of upsets for Williams’s bracket.
When it came to his Final Four picks, Williams admitted he is going full-on chalk with every 1-seed in the country. It was enough to draw some jokes from host Mike Greenberg.
“Yes, all No. 1 teams, but I believe this year is going to be a year of chalk,” said Williams while picking Florida, Auburn, Duke and Houston to reach the national semifinals.
“There’s chalk blowing off of your bracket as we speak,” cracked Greenberg.
“I’m just telling you Greenie who the best teams are. I think they all are the best teams in basketball,” Williams explained. “It doesn’t mean that they will get there, but I like all their regions, and they’ve proven to me over the course of the last 6 months that they are the elite of the elite.”
What about Williams’s national title pick? He’s going with the red-hot Gators after an SEC Tournament title.
“Walter Clayton Jr. is a special player, they have Alijah Martin who played for FAU and was in the Final Four… Todd Golden’s team, I think right now, is the best team in the nation,” said Williams.
For what it’s worth, Greenberg has Florida, Duke, Michigan State and Tennessee in the Final Four. He also has the Gators cutting down the nets and winning it all.
As for his “bracket busters,” Williams urged fans to keep an eye on 3 teams: 11-seed North Carolina, 6-seed BYU and 8-seed Gonzaga:
