Jon Scheyer and Duke have been powered by freshman phenom Cooper Flagg all season long. The true freshman is in the mix to be the National Player of the Year and another recipient in Duke’s long-running history of Naismith Trophy winners.

Flagg has been the best all-around player in the country all season long with a refined offensive game, elite skill set and an impressive ability to defend. As the likely No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft, Scheyer understands he only gets Flagg for one year.

During a recent appearance with Dan Patrick, Scheyer was asked if he had any discussion with Flagg about a potential return to Duke. Scheyer was quick to shoot that down with a clear response.

“No,” said Jon Scheyer while laughing.

“No,” Scheyer said while still laughing about even having a conversation with the freshman phenom about returning. “Although I can dream about that, but I think that’s all it is in this case, a dream. I think he’s got to take the next dream in his life and be the top pick in the NBA Draft and start his career.”

Along with potential winning POTY honors, Flagg headlines the March Madness Most Outstanding Player odds at ESPN Bet, coming in at +110. Florida star Walter Clayton Jr. (+375) and Auburn big man Johni Broome (+750) round out the top odds for the honor.

Clayton and Broome will go head to head in the Final Four while Flagg faces Houston with a shot to reach the title game. Fans can grab the odds and get into the action through the best sports betting apps available.
