Kentucky guard Otega Oweh makes announcement on basketball future

Otega Oweh will test the NBA Draft waters but leave the door open for a potential return to Kentucky.
The UK guard made the announcement Tuesday on social media.

“Getting to play the game I love each day, knowing I have your support alongside my family and friends, has truly been a dream come true and I am incredibly blessed,” Oweh wrote. “I’m taking the next step and have declared for the 2025 NBA Draft, while maintaining my NCAA eligibility.

Oweh joined the Wildcats for the 2024-25 as a transfer from Oklahoma, where he played 2 seasons. Twice facing his former team, Oweh hit game-winning shots for UK.
Playing for Kentucky, the 6-4, 215-pound guard had a standout junior season. Oweh posted double figures in each of the team’s first 26 games, and 33 overall. A second-team All-SEC selection, Oweh set career-best marks in points per game (16.2), rebounds per game (4.7), assists per game (1.7), steals per game (1.6) in the 2024-25 season.
In 2023-24 at OU, Oweh played in 32 game, making 28 starts. He averaged 11.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists per game. Oweh played in 28 games with 9 starts in 2022-23, his freshman season with the Sooners.
