Kevin Keatts is out at NC State, the program announced Sunday.
Keatts was the Wolfpack’s head coach for 8 seasons. He memorably led NC State on a Cinderella run in last year’s NCAA Tournament.
The Wolfpack received an automatic bid to the Big Dance last season after winning 5 ACC Tournament games in 5 days, including a victory over regular-season champion North Carolina. NC State was an 11-seed in the NCAA Tournament and continued its miracle run, making it 9 wins in a row by defeating Texas Tech, Oakland, Marquette and Duke to reach the Final Four.
The 2024-25 squad, however, could not find the same magic. NC State finished the season 12-19 overall and just 5-15 in ACC play after dropping the regular-season finale to Miami.
I want to thank Coach Keatts for his contributions to NC State and for always representing the university with class,” athletic director Boo Corrigan said in a released statement. “He will always have a treasured place in Wolfpack history for the accomplishments of his 2023-24 squad and I appreciate the passion he brought to this role. We wish him and his family the best in the future.
Keatts leaves Raleigh with an overall record of 151-113 and a 69-84 mark in ACC play. He guided the Wolfpack to the NCAA Tournament 3 times.
