Labaron Philon offers complicated update on NBA Draft plans

Labaron Philon delivered a strong freshman season for Alabama this season and has since declared for the NBA Draft. However, he has not entirely shut the door on a potential return to college basketball.
Recently, Philon made an appearance on “The Schuz Show” with Zach Schumaker. While it doesn’t sound like it is a likelihood Philon will return to school, he did admit that “you never know what can happen.”
“I would say 100% draft, but you know, things can change,” Philon said when asked about the draft. “You never know. But I would say I love ‘Bama. The whole program, the school, the state. It was all love when I was playing there. I never received any hatred or nothing like that. Walking around school and just being a regular kid again was mostly the most fun part for me.”
While in Tuscaloosa, Philon appeared in 37 games while making 29 starts for Nate Oats. He was the team’s 5th leading scorer this season at 10.6 points per game and developed throughout the season. Philon finished the season shooting 45% from the floor and averaged 3.8 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals.
During the SEC Tournament, Philon tied his career high with 21 points in a win over Kentucky. He also scored 16 points in the eventual season-ending loss to Duke.
“I’ll never take that for granted. But I’m all in on the draft right now because I feel like I want to be a pro,” said Philone. “You never know what can happen. We’ll just have to wait and see.”
We will indeed see what that means for Philon moving forward.
