Lamar Wilkerson, 45% 3-point shooter from Sam Houston, reportedly draws interest from 3 SEC heavyweights

Lamar Wilkerson is as good as it gets when it comes to knocking down 3-pointers at a high rate.
The Sam Houston Bearkats guard had an outstanding 2024-25 season from beyond the arc, connecting on 44.5% of his attempts from beyond the arc.
Now Wilkerson is in the NCAA transfer portal and is, understandably, drawing some interest from top-tier power-conference programs. Per Jonathan Givony, Wilkerson has already heard from a trio of SEC basketball heavyweights — Alabama, Kentucky and Arkansas:
Among the other schools recruiting Wilkerson are blue-bloods like Duke, Kansas and Louisville, according to Givony’s social media post. He also mentioned that others are in the mix for the Arkansas native, as well.
In 2024-25, Wilkerson averaged 20.5 points per game, good for 13th in the nation. He also put up 4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per contest.
His 44.5% 3-point rate is legitimate, too. He attempted an average of 7.7 shots from beyond the arc this year. Whoever gets Wilkerson in the portal will be getting one of the best 3-point shooters in the game heading into the 2025-26 campaign.
Will he end up in the SEC? We’ll see where things land with Wilkerson’s recruitment over the coming days and weeks.
