Former Indiana star Malik Reneau spent 3 seasons playing for Mike Woodson with the Hoosiers. With the program now turning to Darian DeVries, Reneau hit the transfer portal, and he’s now exiting with a destination much closer to home.
On Wednesday, Reneau revealed a commitment to Miami, where he will join new head coach Jai Lucas. Lucas is in Coral Gables to turn the Hurricanes around after serving as an assistant at Duke.
“I’m coming home,” Reneau wrote about the decision on social media.
Coming out of high school, the 6-foot-9 Reneau was a 4-star prospect and the No. 30 overall player in the country for the 2022 recruiting class per the 247 Sports Composite. He starred for Montverde Academy just outside of Orlando to complete his high school career.
As a true freshman, Reneau appeared in 35 games and averaged 6.1 points per game. He began to improve as a sophomore, finishing 2nd on the Hoosiers with 15.4 points per game and adding 5.5 rebounds and 2 assists in 33 games (all starts). Reneau began to flash more versatility while shooting 33% from 3-point range that season.
Unfortunately, his shooting touch regressed heavily this season to 12.5% from deep and an average of 13.3 points per game. He still received a 4-star transfer rating and was the 28th available player in the portal per 247 Sports at the time of his announcement.
