Mark Sears is not a fan of how things wound up playing out in the showdown between Alabama and Tennessee. That’s understandable after the Crimson Tide blew a 4-point lead in the final 30 seconds of the game in a stunning 79-76 defeat.

On Tuesday, Sears referenced that outcome in a press conference. While Rick Barnes and the Volunteers got the upper hand in the lone regular-season meeting between the rivals, Sears claimed he wants a rematch in the SEC Tournament next week.

Sears also said he wants to see the other teams Alabama has lost to with a chance to even the score:

The teams that have managed to beat Alabama in the SEC schedule this year include Ole Miss, Auburn, Mizzou and the aforementioned Vols. The Crimson Tide will get a shot at revenge vs. Auburn on Saturday, but first, there’s a Wednesday night matchup vs. Florida that will not be easy.

As it relates to next week’s tournament in Nashville, Alabama enters the final week of the regular season tied for the No. 2 seed with Florida, so the midweek matchup is a major piece to the puzzle in the final standings. The Tide also need to avoid losing to both the Gators and Auburn to potentially avoid falling even further down the bracket.

With Tennessee and Mizzou directly behind Alabama in the standings, there is a chance the Tide fall completely out of a double-bye scenario. On the other end, 2 wins this week would ensure that Nate Oats and company have the 2-seed entering the postseason.
