Mizzou basketball adds in-state commitment from 4-star power forward

Missouri basketball has added an in-state commitment from a 4-star power forward. Lee’s Summit (Mo.) West player Cameron Barnes announced on social media that he’s signing with the Tigers.
The 6-foot-7, 245-pound Barnes is regarded by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 5 player from Missouri and the No. 22 power forward for the Class of 2027. Barnes committed to Missouri over other offers from programs such as Arizona State, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and TCU.
Barnes earned on offer from Missouri on July 25, 2025 and made multiple on-campus visits after that. He’ll be reuniting with his MoKan Elite teammate Scottie Adkinson, who was Missouri’s first commit for the Class of 2027. MoKan Elite is a team in the Nike’s EYBL circuit.
Barnes has the frame and physicality to potentially be an immediate impact player in the imposing SEC. He’s typically been bigger and stronger than his high school peers, so it’ll be interesting to see how he fares against players with a similar build.
Barnes is joining a Missouri squad that’s reached the NCAA Tournament 3 times in head coach Dennis Gates’ 4 seasons at the helm. The Tigers tip off this season with a home matchup vs. Cleveland State on Nov. 3.
