Mizzou just wrapped up one of the best comeback seasons in the entire country under Dennis Gates. While the Tigers lost in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, Mizzou will look to regroup for another strong run in the 2025-26 season.

However, the Tigers lost one veteran piece of the roster to the transfer portal on Tuesday. Aidan Shaw, a junior forward, confirmed he is entering the portal after 3 seasons in the program.

I would like to sincerely express my gratitude to the Mizzou staff for the opportunity to play at the University of Missouri. Over the past 3 years, I have had truly remarkable experiences filled with unforgettable moments…

Althought it is a difficult decision, I believe it is important to prioritize my future. After careful consideration and dicussions with my family, I have decided to enter the transfer portal.

Coming out of high school, Shaw was a 4-star recruit and a top-70 player nationally out of Kansas. He eventually landed on Mizzou over other high offers from Kansas, Maryland, Iowa and Arkansas, among others.

As a sophomore, Shaw appeared to be building toward a breakthrough after starting 10 games and averaging 3.6 points and 3.8 rebounds in 16 minutes per game. Unfortunately, he appeared in just 28 games this past season without a start while averaging just 9.2 minutes per game.

We’ll see where Shaw ends up down the road as Gates and his staff look to round out the roster for a new season.
