Mizzou forward Mark Mitchell is expected to be available for the NCAA Tournament next week.

Mitchell’s status was uncertain after he exited the SEC Tournament with a knee injury earlier this week. However, that proved to be a pre-cautionary move and a team spokesperson now says Mitchell is expected to play in March Madness.

That’s welcomed news for a Mizzou team that has aspirations to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers have lost 5 of their last 7 games, but have earned high-level wins over programs like Kansas, Florida and Alabama this season.

Mitchell is crucial to Mizzou’s odds of making the Final Four. He’s arguably the team’s most important player on both sides of the floor. He’s averaging about 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block per game in 2024-25. He’s also been very efficient as a scorer with a field goal percentage above 50% on the season.

Mizzou will learn its NCAA Tournament seed on Sunday evening. The Tigers have not been a top-4 seed since the 2012 NCAA Tournament. They also haven’t reached the 2nd weekend since 2009.
