NBA Draft season will be here before we know it. Once March Madness is over, we’ll have a pretty clear idea of who is trending in the right direction when it comes to the lottery and the first round.
The NBA Draft will take place on June 25 and 26 in Brooklyn. With the SEC producing the best regular season any conference has ever had, it makes sense that several players will be on NBA draft boards.
ESPN experts Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo put together their full 2-round mock draft projections. As you can see below, the SEC places 6 players in Round 1:
- No. 5 — Tre Johnson, G, Texas — Philadelphia 76ers
- No. 11 — Jeremiah Fears, G, Oklahoma — Houston Rockets
- No. 16 — Collin Murray-Boyles, F, South Carolina — San Antonio Spurs
- No. 20 — Asa Newell, F/C, Georgia — Brooklyn Nets
- No. 26 — Alex Condon, C, Florida — Brooklyn Nets
- No. 28 — Adou Thiero, F, Arkansas — Boston Celtics
In the second round, the ESPN experts have 4 SEC players hearing their names called, starting with a freshman out of Arkansas:
- No. 38 — Boogie Fland, G, Arkansas — San Antonio Spurs
- No. 40 — Chaz Lanier, G, Tennessee — Sacramento Kings
- No. 41 — Johni Broome, F, Auburn — Washington Wizards
- No. 58 — Koby Brea, G/F, Kentucky — Houston Rockets
Will these projections prove to be accurate? We’ll see if Broome, who is a potential National Player of the Year, can work his way into the Round 1 mix before all is said and done.
